The former Les Chouettes bistro may be gone, but a truly delightful new spot has taken its place. At Maslow Temple, the sense of warmth remains, while the interior has been transformed with striking scarlet walls. Large communal tables at the entrance welcome families and groups of friends, while couples can settle beneath the beautiful glass roof.
The sharing platesโsometimes disappointing elsewhereโare particularly well executed here, offering guests a chance to explore the vibrant, flavourful possibilities of plant-based cuisine. Crispy fried oyster mushrooms are utterly irresistible; potato churros are served with a fragrant herb sauce; lighter greens accompany a zucchini carpaccio enhanced with apple molasses and barberries; and the classic hummus and pita is reinvented as a silky white bean cream paired with crispy buckwheat flatbreads.
The result is an explosion of flavours and textures, with dishes designed for grazing and sharing. Adding to the experience is the sight of a whole artichoke proudly taking centre stage on many tablesโnot served with a traditional vinaigrette, but accompanied by a rich coconut and peanut sauce that suits it perfectly. A true arti-show, all offered at remarkably accessible prices.
